Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Architects and Technical Leads to conduct system and gap analysis based on business specifications, defining both functional and non-functional requirements.

• Investigate, create proofs of concept, and assess methodologies and technologies that enhance quality, reliability, scalability, security, and performance.

• Deliver projects within established deadlines and take ownership of the products delivered.

• Actively contribute as a team player in a Scrum Team and engage in the agile delivery process.

• Design and develop applications that are low-latency, high-availability, and high-performing.

• Participate in the software development lifecycle from analysis to release, including design, documentation, testing, development, code reviews, and peer design activities.

• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code.

• Implement and integrate data storage solutions.

• Recognize opportunities to enhance and streamline applications and processes within the Data team.

• Maintain precise and effective support documentation related to code development and changes.

• Raise risks and issues to the Data Delivery Manager along with resolution and mitigation strategies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in computer science, computer technology, or a related field.

• Over 3 years of experience in software development, specifically in the Data Engineering domain.

• Strong background in Event Driven Architecture, Data Streaming, and Big Data.

• Proficient in NoSQL, with a solid understanding of concepts like Data Clustering, Data Replication, and Partitioning Strategies.

• Excellent SQL writing skills are essential.

• Proven experience with high-volume data loads.

• Good understanding of ETL processes in highly transactional OLTP systems, Event Modelling, Data Lake, Dimensional Data Modelling, Data Composition, Data Governance, Data Warehouse, as well as experience in Designing and Applying Schema, including Schema-on-write & Schema-on-read.

• Experience with log-based messaging systems, particularly with one of the following: Kafka (preferred), Kinesis, or Pulsar.

• Strong understanding of ring-based databases, having worked with one of the following: Cassandra (preferred), DynamoDB, or Riak.

• Demonstrated experience with map-reduce technology, specifically with Scala Spark (preferred) or PySpark.

• Familiarity with stream processing frameworks, with experience in one of the following: Spark Streaming, Kafka Streams, or Flink/Kinesis.

• Good understanding of BI reporting, with experience in one of the following or similar: Looker, Tableau, or Quick Sight.

• Solid experience with AWS data services within cloud technology, utilizing tools such as S3, Redshift, Glue, Lake House, RDS, EMR, or Athena.

• Demonstrable experience in object-oriented programming in either Python or Java.

• Proven ability to influence technical decisions in a dynamic commercial environment.

• Knowledge and practice of unit testing.

• Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery tools.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with high energy levels.

• Proactive work ethic with a demonstrated ability to deliver results and meet demanding deadlines.
