Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Design and develop the next-generation cloud enterprise data platform.

• Take ownership of the data that fuels Actifai's SaaS application and data products.

• Oversee the entire data lifecycle, which includes ingestion, storage, querying, data quality, operations, and governance.

• Upgrade the data ecosystem into a robust enterprise-grade platform.

• Establish the groundwork for next-generation AI applications.

• Construct and manage a big data platform that processes and refines data, facilitating efficient data access.

• Provide high-quality, scalable solutions within a collaborative and fast-paced setting.

• Work alongside and engage professionally with other engineers, including senior engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in building cloud-native data solutions.

• Preferably knowledgeable in Google Cloud and/or Azure.

• Experience with Apache Airflow and/or Azure Data Factory.

• Familiarity with Google Cloud Storage and/or Azure Blob Storage.

• Experience working with Postgres and/or Microsoft SQL Server.

• Proficient in BigQuery and/or Microsoft Fabric.

• Significant programming expertise in Python.

• Strong understanding of SQL.

• Demonstrated capability to write clean, scalable code.

• Experience in refactoring and upgrading existing data systems to meet modern data engineering standards.

• Comfortable handling complex real-world datasets.

• Advocate for software development best practices emphasizing engineering and operational excellence.

• Ability to articulate software engineering challenges to business professionals and convey business issues to software engineers.

• Outstanding time management and organizational skills.

• Capability to deliver incrementally against tight timelines.

• Experience in planning and executing work modules that span several months.

• Strong attention to detail regarding data and design.

• Degree in a STEM field or equivalent practical experience.
