Senior Data Center Mechanical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Provide support for the construction programs of hyperscale data centers as a mechanical engineer.

• Concentrate on the design of new hyperscale data center facilities.

• Collaborate with operations teams to deliver engineering solutions.

• Facilitate the resolution of construction-related issues.

• Review and aid in the technical development of airside and waterside mechanical systems.

• Supervise architectural and engineering design consultants while offering engineering guidance.

• Conduct peer reviews of drawings, specifications, operational sequences, calculations, models, and other deliverables.

• Assess and suggest opportunities for value engineering.

• Analyze redundancies, potential failure modes, and Single Points Of Failure in collaboration with RAM modelers.

• Create rapid conceptual CAD or BIM sketches for internal visualization and validation purposes.

• Assist and, at times, lead projects that address mechanical challenges, outages, fleet-wide enhancements, and operational campus requirements.

• Review post-mortem reports, 8D/root cause analyses, and presentations.

• Generate options for solutions, upgrades, and improvements with a fleet-wide impact.

• Analyze operational trends to assess equipment health, remaining useful life, and predictive failure models.

• Manage construction-originated engineering issues in collaboration with construction, design, and change management teams.

• Develop engineering bulletins and navigate design changes through established processes.

• Support standard design enhancement processes across products, design, construction, and operations.

• Visit construction or operational sites as necessary.

• Utilize the client's Buganizer platform to log bugs, work orders, and closeouts.

• Create presentations using Google Slides to communicate findings, evaluations, and recommendations.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.

• A minimum of 5 years of proven experience is required.

• At least 2 years of experience in data center construction is necessary.

• Proficiency in Google Workspace and associated products (Sheets, Docs, Slides) is essential.

• Experience collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams, including structural, civil, IT/Telecom, security, mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams.

• Strong understanding of large-scale mechanical infrastructure in data centers, including cooling and fire protection systems.

• Familiarity with mission-critical infrastructure is required.

• Experience in coordinating scope with multiple trades is essential.

• Capability to work independently and remotely.

• Willingness to travel to construction sites with minimal supervision.

• Experience with data center projects both domestically and internationally is highly preferred.
