Senior Data Center Mechanical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Provide support for hyperscale data center construction initiatives in the role of a mechanical engineer.

• Review and contribute to the technical development of airside and waterside mechanical systems.

• Assess campus planning, layouts, CFD and noise modeling, climate data, hydraulic analyses, pipe sizing, and bin hour evaluations.

• Supervise A/E design consultants and offer engineering guidance.

• Conduct peer reviews of drawings, specifications, sequences of operations, calculations, models, and other deliverables.

• Suggest potential value engineering opportunities.

• Analyze redundancies, failure modes, and Single Points Of Failure while collaborating with RAM modelers.

• Create conceptual CAD or BIM sketches for visualization and spatial/dimensional validation.

• Assist or occasionally lead the resolution of mechanical issues, outages, fleet-wide enhancements, and operational campus requirements.

• Review post-mortem reports and conduct root cause analyses.

• Develop solutions, upgrade options, and improvements with a fleet-wide impact.

• Analyze operational trend data to evaluate equipment health, remaining useful life, and predictive failure models.

• Process engineering issues originating from construction with construction, design, and change management partners.

• Create engineering bulletins and support standard design improvement initiatives.

• Visit construction or operational sites as necessary.

• Utilize the client's Buganizer platform to log bugs, work orders, and closeouts.

• Prepare presentations using Google Slides to convey findings, assessments, and options.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.

• A minimum of 5 years of proven experience is required.

• At least 2 years of experience in data center construction is necessary.

• Proficiency in Google Workspace, including Sheets, Docs, and Slides.

• Experience collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams, including structural, civil, IT/Telecom, security, mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams.

• Strong understanding of large-scale data center mechanical infrastructure, including cooling and fire protection systems.

• Familiarity with mission-critical infrastructure is important.

• Experience coordinating scope with various trades.

• Capability to work independently in a remote setting.

• Willingness to travel to construction sites with minimal supervision.

• Experience with data center projects both domestically and internationally is highly preferred.

• Experience with waterless cooling solutions is preferred.

• Knowledge of EPA regulations and emissions after-treatment solutions for diesel generators is advantageous.

• Experience in hydroponics systems, water quality management, and corrosion/fouling prevention is beneficial.

• Familiarity with fuel oil quality standards is a plus.
