Senior Data Analyst, SQL

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Oversee analytics projects from the stages of requirements gathering and data preparation to analysis, dashboard creation, and recommendations.

• Establish and uphold KPIs, metric definitions, and reporting standards that align with business goals.

• Analyze trends, segments, and customer or product behaviors to uncover opportunities and guide priorities.

• Create reusable analytical datasets and automate ongoing analyses and reporting processes.

• Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data through validation, reconciliation, and investigation of discrepancies.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Delivery teams to clarify requirements, resolve dependencies, and fill information gaps.

• Make independent technical decisions, articulate trade-offs, and escalate significant risks as needed.

• Review analytical outputs, mentor team members, and enhance documentation and reusable practices.

• Implement data privacy, access, and governance controls throughout the analytical process.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced SQL skills, including complex joins, CTEs, window functions, aggregations, query optimization, and execution plan analysis.

• Proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, or Looker, with knowledge of DAX, Power Query, LOD, LookML, connections, filters, drill-downs, and optimization techniques.

• Data modeling expertise, including granularity, fact/dimension tables, relationships, and reusable semantic models.

• Experience with Python or R for data cleaning, analysis, visualization, and the development of maintainable scripts.

• Understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics, sampling methods, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, bias detection, and correlation versus causation.

• Skills in exploratory data analysis, segmentation, cohort analysis, trend analysis, and performance driver identification.

• Competence in data validation, source reconciliation, metric documentation, and data lineage tracking.

• Advanced Excel capabilities, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and data preparation techniques.

• Familiarity with ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehouses, update dependencies, latency issues, and schema modifications.

• Knowledge of Git, peer review practices, reproducible analysis, and technical documentation.

• Awareness of role-based access control, sensitive data handling, and the secure distribution of analytical outcomes.
