Senior Data Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Take charge of key business and client reporting, ensuring that definitions are well-documented, consistent, and reliable.

• Develop and maintain dashboards and self-service tools.

• Streamline recurring reporting and analysis through automation, incorporating schedules and quality checks.

• Manage ad-hoc analytical requests by clarifying inquiries, prioritizing tasks, and delivering actionable insights.

• Choose suitable reporting and visualization tools based on the audience, questions, and the lifespan of answers.

• Analyze user behavior to detect trends, friction points, and potential opportunities.

• Monitor engagement, retention, and customer journey metrics.

• Utilize cohort analysis, significance testing, forecasting, and seasonality techniques.

• Design and assess product experiments.

• Investigate anomalies and differentiate between genuine signals and data quality issues or noise.

• Develop and maintain analytical models and reusable assets using curated data.

• Define analytics-layer data requirements and collaborate with engineering teams.

• Comprehend data origins, flows, and the downstream impacts of changes made upstream.

• Handle personal and sensitive data responsibly in compliance with POPIA and client obligations.

• Identify and rectify data quality issues at the source.

• Implement data security, governance, and metadata management practices.

• Collaborate with product, marketing, engineering, and operations teams.

• Convey analytical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Represent analytics within the broader data platform roadmap.

• Guide junior and intermediate analysts while contributing to training and knowledge sharing initiatives.

• Maintain documentation for data models, dashboards, and workflows.

• Leverage AI to explore data, optimize SQL, generate reports, write documentation, and rigorously test analyses.

• Develop reusable AI workflows and validate AI-generated outputs.

• Advocate for iiDENTIFii’s culture and contribute to its mission of empowering innovators in remote biometric digital authentication.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Analyst or in a comparable analytical position.

• At least 5 years of experience in BI and data visualization.

• Proven history of independently delivering analytical work in an agile, fast-paced environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experience.

• Experience in a regulated or high-integrity environment is a significant advantage.

• Proficiency in advanced SQL.

• Knowledge of Python for analysis and automation tasks.

• Strong foundation in applied statistics, including cohort analysis, significance testing, forecasting, and seasonality.

• Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, or a similar cloud data platform is beneficial but not essential.

• Understanding of CI/CD, version control, and contemporary development practices applied to analytics is advantageous.

• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Application Insights, Azure Monitor, or Grafana is a plus.

• Working knowledge of data security, governance, and metadata management principles.

• Ability to manage personal and sensitive data responsibly in a compliance-oriented environment.

• Excellent communication skills tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience in presenting analyses to senior stakeholders.

• Background in presenting analyses directly to external clients is advantageous.

• Comfort in managing work from inception through to recommendation adoption.

• Experience in supporting or mentoring less experienced analysts is a plus.
