Senior Data Analyst – 9 Month FTC

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of, triage, assess, and prioritize the Change and reporting backlog, ensuring timely completion of tasks.

• Convert business needs into technical specifications and clarify data constraints and options for Change stakeholders.

• Conduct source profiling, mapping, model design, and non-functional requirements analysis for larger data engineering projects.

• Develop, test, and deploy specified reports, semantic models, and data extracts utilizing SQL, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric.

• Keep track of backlog size, throughput, and burn down, providing updates to the Data Lead and Change stakeholders.

• Validate outputs, apply standards for definitions and reconciliation, and address discrepancies between reports.

• Manage daily data requests while safeguarding delivery capacity.

• Assist analysts and developers through specification reviews, peer assessments, and knowledge sharing.

• Engage in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

• Document completed items, decisions, and outstanding backlog for transition to the permanent team.

• Deliver a quantifiable backlog burn down, finalized reports and data outputs, ready-to-build specifications, documented definitions and reconciliation notes, regular progress updates, and a seamless handover.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient SQL skills for intricate analysis, query optimization, and reconciliation across systems.

• Experience in developing Power BI semantic models, DAX measures, and reports.

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Pipelines, notebooks, and semantic models, or substantial equivalent experience with a cloud data platform.

• Competence in transforming business requirements into technical specifications for data engineers.

• Experience managing and reducing a backlog, estimating work, prioritizing with stakeholders, and meeting committed deadlines.

• Confidence in collaborating with Change, operations, and senior stakeholders.

• Knowledge of data governance principles, definitions, lineage, and reconciliation.

• Awareness of data protection concerns when outputs involve personal or client data.

• Capability to mentor analysts and developers through review and knowledge sharing.

• Familiarity with working in an Agile delivery environment.

• Experience in financial services, platforms, or other regulated environments is preferred.
