This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Take ownership of high-stakes disputes, investigations, and strategic advisory from initial assessment to final resolution.
• Act as a strategic leader managing a diverse range of complex litigation and pre-litigation issues across various jurisdictions.
• Handle highly sensitive issues with sound judgment, discretion, and care.
• Oversee outside counsel, including budgeting, strategic planning, work product management, and outcomes.
• Navigate matters through early case evaluations, witness preparation, depositions, mediation, and settlement proposals.
• Identify and address potential disputes while providing practical risk mitigation guidance to business clients.
• Collaborate with compliance, public policy, and legal teams across different functions and geographical locations.
• Assess legal risks throughout the business, including new product and service offerings.
• Develop scalable processes and procedures to support a rapidly expanding global enterprise.
• Report directly to Airbnb's Lead Counsel for Litigation, Risk, and Regulatory matters.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with strong academic qualifications.
• A minimum of 8 years of substantial litigation experience.
• Proven track record of managing significant components of complex legal or regulatory issues from start to finish.
• Active membership in the California bar in good standing.
• Must reside in California.
• Experience in preparing witnesses, including senior corporate executives, for depositions and trials.
• History of managing outside counsel on high-exposure cases.
• Excellent judgment and discretion in addressing highly sensitive issues and challenging subjects.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capacity to advocate assertively while remaining open-minded.
• Highly organized and self-motivated; comfortable managing multiple matters at once.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations.
• Willingness to travel several times each quarter based on case requirements.
