Senior Counsel, AI – Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver comprehensive legal guidance throughout the entire product life cycle, from conception to launch and ongoing operations.

• Collaborate with teams in Product, Engineering, Data Science, Security, and Marketing to enhance new features and AI-driven capabilities.

• Manage ServiceTitan's AI governance initiatives.

• Create scalable procedures for AI Inventory intake, AI Impact Assessment evaluations, and legal approvals.

• Advance AI Design Guidelines as regulations and products develop.

• Act as the main legal contact for internal initiatives related to AI.

• Perform legal risk assessments for AI-enabled products and other capabilities.

• Address product legal risks across various domains, including telecom, call-recording, consumer protection, fintech, employment, intellectual property, and confidentiality.

• Assess legal and regulatory risks associated with AI products and tools for internal use or platform integration.

• Specify necessary contractual protections.

• Keep track of new AI legislation and convert these updates into practical internal guidance.

• Collaborate with Marketing and Commercial Legal teams to ensure accurate and well-supported AI-related product claims.

• Develop and maintain playbooks, templates, and training resources.

• Work alongside Product, Engineering, and Security teams on AI governance priorities and ensure consistent decision-making.

• Partner with legal teams in Privacy, Commercial, Litigation, and Intellectual Property.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

• Membership in at least one U.S. state bar.

• 8–10 years of combined experience in law firms and in-house environments, providing counsel to technology companies on product development, data, and emerging technology legal matters.

• Significant practical experience advising on governance, deployment, or compliance of generative AI.

• Proficient understanding of U.S. consumer protection and communications law, including the TCPA.

• Familiarity with biometric privacy laws, such as BIPA.

• Knowledge of state laws regarding automated decision-making and AI, including California's CCPA ADMT rules and the Colorado AI Act.

• Experience advising non-product business sectors on the legal and compliance aspects of adopting AI-driven tools.

• Background in managing vendor risks, data handling practices, and deployment safeguards.

• Experience in the technology sector, specifically in a B2B SaaS environment.

• Practical, business-focused problem-solving abilities.

• Strong skills in project management and cross-functional collaboration.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Capacity to translate complex technical and legal issues into clear, actionable advice.

• Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.

• Experience in establishing or managing an AI governance program is preferred.

• Broader experience in automated decision-making, algorithmic systems, or data-driven products is a significant advantage.
