Senior Cost Manager – Quantity Surveyor, Data Center Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the construction lifecycle across various project phases and work packages.

• Provide estimating and cost planning, including the creation and presentation of final cost plans.

• Review and engage in the development of cost estimates with design services teams and general contractors.

• Reconcile changes and ensure the accuracy of contractor data.

• Collect project status information and prepare updates for cost estimates.

• Draft written comments and executive summaries regarding contractor submissions.

• Coordinate cost information from suppliers, subcontractors, quantity sources, and design teams.

• Drive engineering priorities based on their cost impact.

• Proactively resolve scheduling issues with minimal supervision.

• Manage cost checks, valuations, cost impact assessments, contingency management, and commitment tracking.

• Prepare funding data presentations and facilitate value engineering sessions.

• Develop and update cost plans and estimates in line with design milestones.

• Contribute commercial insights to design optioneering and value engineering processes.

• Review pricing from contractors and subcontractors while leading client-side negotiations.

• Conduct quantity surveying, cost controls, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.

• Oversee cost auditing, valuation, cost validation, post-contract variances, and change control.

• Generate monthly cost reports for client presentations.

• Negotiate and finalize accounts.

• Compile built cost estimate records for benchmarking purposes.

• Identify, coach, and mentor emerging talent.

• Monitor commission margin levels, fee/resource forecasts, and financial reports using internal software.

• Implement internal business management systems, delivery methodologies, and tools.

• Comply with relevant SOX control responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related construction field.

• At least 5–7 years of relevant cost management experience in the construction industry.

• RICS accreditation or active pursuit of accreditation is preferred.

• Experience leading cost management efforts on medium to large, moderately to highly complex construction projects.

• Strongly preferred background in construction consultancy.

• Knowledge of technical matters within the construction industry, including procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.

• Experience supporting large-scale commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or campus-style construction programs is preferred.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

• Comfortable working in a client-facing capacity.

• Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
