Senior Cost Manager, Quantity Surveyor – Data Center Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Assess and negotiate change orders throughout the construction lifecycle across various project phases and work packages.

• Deliver cost estimation and planning services, including the creation and presentation of final cost plans.

• Engage in the review and development of design services and general contractor cost estimates.

• Reconcile alterations and authenticate general contractor data.

• Liaise with the general contractor, project manager, and stakeholders to collect status updates and prepare cost estimate revisions.

• Draft written feedback and executive summaries regarding general contractor submissions.

• Coordinate cost-related information from suppliers, subcontractors, quantities, and design teams.

• Advise on engineering priorities based on cost implications.

• Proactively address scheduling challenges with minimal oversight.

• Oversee cost evaluations and valuations on larger projects.

• Manage post-contract cost discrepancies, change control, cost impact assessments, contingency management, and commitment tracking.

• Create funding data presentations and facilitate value engineering sessions.

• Develop and revise cost plans and estimates as design milestones progress.

• Contribute commercial insights to design optioneering and value engineering processes.

• Evaluate contractor and subcontractor pricing and lead negotiations on behalf of the client.

• Execute quantity surveying, cost controls, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.

• Maintain processes for cost validation and auditing.

• Generate monthly cost reports for client presentations.

• Negotiate and finalize accounts in a timely manner.

• Compile built cost estimate records for benchmarking purposes.

• Identify, train, and mentor talent within the team.

• Monitor margin levels, fee/resource forecasts, and financial reporting using internal software.

• Implement internal Business Management Systems, delivery methodologies, and related tools.

• Comply with applicable SOX control responsibilities.

• Act as a daily stakeholder interface and provide leadership on commissions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related construction field.

• At least 5–7 years of relevant cost management experience in the construction industry.

• Proven experience leading cost management on medium to large, moderately to highly complex construction projects.

• Strong understanding of technical aspects of the construction industry, procurement methods, value management, and value engineering.

• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.

• Experience in construction consultancy is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with large-scale commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or campus-style construction programs is advantageous.

• RICS accreditation or active pursuit of accreditation is preferred.

• Capability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with project teams and stakeholders.

• Client-facing experience and confidence in a stakeholder interface role.
