This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Serve as the primary day-to-day liaison with clients for cost management services.
• Provide leadership and guidance while upholding Turner & Townsend’s mission, values, and vision.
• Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the construction process.
• Generate, present, and revise cost plans and estimates at key design milestones.
• Evaluate design services and general contractor cost estimates.
• Reconcile modifications and confirm the accuracy of contractor data.
• Collect project status updates and prepare revisions to cost estimates.
• Review contractor submissions and create written feedback and executive summaries.
• Coordinate cost information among project stakeholders, suppliers, subcontractors, and architects/engineers.
• Communicate engineering priorities based on cost implications.
• Oversee cost checks, valuations, audits, and validation processes.
• Manage cost variances, change control, contingencies, commitments, and financial risks.
• Prepare funding presentations and facilitate value engineering sessions.
• Review pricing from contractors and subcontractors and lead negotiations from the client’s perspective.
• Generate monthly cost reports and negotiate final accounts.
• Compile records of built-cost estimates for benchmarking purposes.
• Monitor commission margins, fee/resource forecasts, and financial reports using internal software.
• Maintain business management systems, delivery methodologies, and tools.
• Develop cost models for quick estimating, benchmarking, and scenario analysis.
• Align cost plans with schedules for cash flow, accruals, and forecasting purposes.
• Support AI-driven cost modeling and scalable cost intelligence platforms.
• Collaborate with technical teams to convert workflows into digital solutions.
• Partner with clients and project teams on scope, cost, and delivery strategies.
• Provide value engineering and data-informed recommendations.
• Contribute to enterprise cost strategies, capital planning, and long-term forecasting.
• Identify, mentor, and develop talent while driving continuous improvement.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field in construction.
• At least 5–7 years of pertinent experience in a cost management role within the construction industry.
• Experience leading cost management on medium or large, medium- to high-complexity construction projects.
• Construction consultancy experience is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of procurement methods, value management, and value engineering.
• Exceptional communication abilities.
• RICS accreditation or progress towards it is preferred.
• Experience in client-facing roles.
• Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Knowledge of technical aspects of the construction industry.
• Proficiency in developing and maintaining parametric and hybrid cost models.
• Experience in preparing cost estimates and budgets for workplace construction projects.
• Familiarity with bid reviews, procurement strategies, cost analysis, financial risk, budget compliance, forecasting, change orders, and SOX controls.
• Ability to support AI-enabled cost modeling tools and digital cost intelligence platforms.
• Skill in conveying complex cost and risk insights to senior stakeholders.
