Senior Core Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and enhance essential subsystems within the engine stack, ranging from low-level C++ to high-level C# APIs, including editor, build, and runtime code.

• Create and implement high-performance, scalable APIs for embedded, cross-process, and networked setups.

• Develop strategies to manage execution timing and resource contention within or between processes and across networks with minimal overhead.

• Coordinate the loading, change tracking, serialization, and synchronization of components and assets in environments constrained by bandwidth and latency.

• Establish foundational infrastructure for interconnected gaming and 3D ecosystems.

• Enable Unity to operate as a guest within alternative processes, engines, and distributed systems.

• Design systems that facilitate Unity in loading, running, and synchronizing assets when it does not control the main loop.

• Develop an extensible architecture and optimize performance at the assembly level.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in building or significantly enhancing game engine cores, middleware, or foundational systems.

• Capability to design modular, testable systems and execute and debug them from start to finish.

• Strong proficiency in C++ and C#.

• Practical knowledge of CPU caches, branch behavior, memory layout, and profiling.

• Hands-on experience in various engine domains, including physics, animation, input, and assets.

• Familiarity with compression, streaming, replication, authority models, RPCs, state diffing, delta encoding, or real-time network protocols.

• Experience with determinism, replay systems, and simulation consistency.

• In-depth understanding of multithreading, job systems, lock-free techniques, and/or Unity DOTS.

• Familiarity with MCP-style tool interfaces, training data generation, machine learning, or agentic workflows.

• Adequate knowledge of English for professional verbal and written communications.
