This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate with the CFO and Accountant to oversee the firm's most intricate nonprofit projects, including those involving multiple entities and diverse funding sources.
• Assist the CFO in providing financial insights, analyses, and recommendations to Executive Directors, Finance Committees, and client leadership.
• Guide and mentor other Controllers while fostering the growth of the broader nonprofit delivery team.
• Manage the audit preparation processes, encompassing schedules, reconciliations, and communications with auditors.
• Direct and oversee complex grant portfolios that involve various funding sources, compliance obligations, and reporting requirements.
• Propel firm-wide enhancements in nonprofit accounting and service delivery processes.
• Partner with the CFO to provide financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic insights that align with client objectives and decision-making.
• Act as a point of escalation for intricate technical accounting inquiries across nonprofit teams.
• Establish and uphold robust internal controls across client accounts.
• Employ current processes and tools, including code red alerts, to proactively detect and mitigate fraud within all client accounting procedures.
• Maintain consistent quality standards in work across the client portfolio.
• Achieve or surpass billable hour targets while ensuring service excellence.
• Fulfill internal responsibilities such as time tracking, capacity planning, and quarterly initiatives.
• Engage in the Brand Ambassador program, embodying the company's mission and values.
• Adhere to security protocols to safeguard client assets.
• A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration (CPA designation is preferred).
• Strong preference for experience in a multi-client or Client Accounting Services (CAS) setting.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in nonprofit accounting with proven team leadership skills.
• Extensive knowledge in nonprofit fund accounting, grant management, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
• Demonstrated experience in leading audit engagements and managing relationships with auditors.
• Proven track record of mentoring Controllers and cultivating high-performing accounting teams.
• Excellent client-facing communication abilities, with the capacity to translate financial data into actionable insights for nonprofit leaders and boards.
