Accountant – Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist with daily financial accounting tasks, encompassing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fixed asset management.

• Examine, categorize, and record incoming and outgoing invoices at the document level.

• Conduct reconciliations and settlements between intercompany entities.

• Manage payment transactions efficiently.

• Provide active support in preparing annual financial statements in line with the German Commercial Code (HGB), which includes the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.

• Oversee and implement monthly reporting, including analysis on BWA management reports.

• Evaluate budget-to-actual variances and determine suitable business actions.

• Develop budgets, forecasts, reports, and liquidity summaries for both internal and external stakeholders.

• Collaborate with tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.

• Work across various entities, handling approximately 150,000 transactions annually.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant professional experience in accounting, covering accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and intercompany accounting—preferably in a multi-entity environment or a role with extensive ownership and responsibility.

• Proven experience in detailed invoice review and coding.

• Strong comprehension of financial statements prepared per the German Commercial Code (HGB).

• Previous experience in aiding the preparation of annual financial statements is advantageous.

• Expertise in controlling, with the capacity to derive KPIs, forecasts, and business metrics from financial data.

• Proficiency in DATEV is essential.

• Advanced skills in Excel.

• Quick learner with a high level of independence and exceptional attention to detail.

• Fluent in both German and English, with strong negotiation abilities, in both written and spoken forms.

• Initial exposure to BI tools and constructing reporting frameworks from the ground up is a plus.

• Experience in hospitality, real estate, or a multi-entity setup is beneficial.

• Interest in automation and process improvement, including API integrations and automated postings, is a plus.
