Senior Consulting Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Deliver consultative assistance to ClickHouse enterprise clients

• Engage in hands-on engineering, development support, and high-level assistance

• Participate in customer projects that involve design, architecture, integration, implementation, and documentation

• Execute research, benchmarking, performance and functional testing, reference architecture, sizing, migration, integration, development, and tooling tasks

• Offer case-initiated consultative support for implementation, onboarding, production launches, and Proofs of Concept

• Provide architectural, technical, and migration support, including hands-on activities

• Manage L1 to L3 support cases and communications when not engaged in customer projects

• Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and Sales on product roadmaps and account strategies

• Create public and internal documentation, Knowledge Base articles, ClickHouse Learning material, reference architectures, blogs, and benchmark outcomes

• Assist in hiring and mentoring new team members

• Take part in scheduling and on-call support to provide exceptional 24x7 assistance in a global, distributed setting

• Travel onsite regionally, estimated at up to 35%

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in Professional Services, Support, Technical Accounts Management, Engineering/SRE, and/or Project Management roles

• More than 5 years of relevant industry expertise in implementing, operating, and/or supporting scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed database management systems

• Comprehensive technical knowledge in DBMS, OLAP, Cloud/SaaS platforms, distributed systems software engineering, Linux/Unix, Kubernetes, system or network administration, and big data

• Proven experience leading and delivering large-scale technical projects with teams of experienced engineers

• Proficiency with a public cloud provider such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and its infrastructure-as-a-service offerings

• Fluency in both Japanese and English

• Capability to offer technical oversight, architectural support, and build Proofs of Concept for enterprise-grade clients

• Estimated up to 35% regional travel and availability for scheduling and on-call responsibilities
