Senior Consultant – Transmission Planning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Conduct feasibility studies for interconnections related to new generation, storage, demand, and transmission projects.

• Optimize the dimensions and placement of new generation, storage, demand, and transmission initiatives.

• Prepare applications for interconnection, which includes the development of power flow, dynamic, and short circuit study models.

• Support generation, storage, demand, and transmission interconnection applications throughout the entire interconnection study process.

• Collaborate with the host transmission operator during the interconnection study process.

• Evaluate and analyze interconnection study reports from the host transmission operator.

• Conduct general power system analyses.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, concentrating in Electrical Power Systems.

• Minimum of 5 years of grid planning experience, with at least 3 years in North America.

• A minimum of 2 years in a consulting role.

• Deep understanding of PSSE and/or PSLF power systems analysis tools, along with relevant models and utilities.

• Familiarity with transmission systems in the Eastern Interconnection, ERCOT, and/or WECC.

• Extensive experience in conducting power system studies.

• Experience with resource interconnection studies in the Eastern Interconnection, ERCOT, or WECC.

• Experience in generation delivery assessments within RTO service territories, especially CAISO, is highly valued.

• Strong preference for familiarity with EMT modeling using PSCAD for protection, control interaction, or IBR-focused studies.

• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Electrical Power Systems is preferred.
