Senior Consultant, Data Governance/MDM

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in the development of customized data governance programs, encompassing processes, team organization, decision-making authorities, and limitations.

• Create policies and controls to ensure the effective implementation of data governance.

• Aid in the design and deployment of modern data governance strategies.

• Translate governance concepts into business terminology and produce presentations, training materials, and adoption resources.

• Coordinate data governance working groups involving business and technology stakeholders.

• Carry out metadata management tasks, including cataloging, lineage documentation, and stewardship workflows.

• Compose and update business rules, definitions, and data quality controls in collaboration with business teams.

• Implement data quality procedures such as profiling, monitoring, and issue resolution.

• Install, configure, deploy, and assist with the adoption of governance and metadata tools like Collibra, Alation, Atlan, and Purview.

• Mentor client personnel on best practices for data stewardship.

• Contribute insights on access controls, privacy issues, and regulatory compliance.

• Partner with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to integrate governance into workflows, pipelines, modeling practices, and observability.

• Develop and manage catalogs containing technical metadata, business glossaries, and lineage information.

• Identify user personas and tailor experiences to suit their roles.

• Customize tool user experience, workflows, dashboards, and search capabilities to enhance usability and encourage adoption.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in data governance, metadata management, and MDM positions.

• Practical experience with MDM tools (Semarchy, Profisee, Informatica, or similar).

• Familiarity with data quality tools and processes (Talend, Ataccama, or similar).

• Excellent communication abilities for leading workshops, drafting business documentation, and presenting to diverse audiences.

• Capability to define and achieve consensus on definitions, business rules, and data quality controls.

• Knowledge of governance operating models and stewardship methodologies.

• Understanding of GDPR and CCPA privacy regulations and how governance aids in compliance.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

• Willingness to travel up to 50% monthly as required by client needs.
