This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Manage projects from pre-bid stage to contract completion and closeout.

• Take ownership of project outcomes from Notice-to-Proceed until closeout.

• Make decisions regarding execution strategy, staffing, sequencing, and subcontractor alignment.

• Utilize BuilderTrend to monitor progress, manage documentation, and enhance communication.

• Proactively address risks, issues, and project change requests.

• Act as a senior escalation point, providing guidance, mentorship, and strategic direction to project teams.

• Oversee project P&L performance, forecasting, cost-to-complete, contingency usage, and margin protection.

• Lead and manage the performance of Project Managers and Site Superintendents, including hiring, coaching, development, and accountability.

• Supervise multiple projects and project teams simultaneously.

• Resolve complex issues related to scope, schedules, permitting, inspections, jurisdictions, budgets, staffing, and client expectations.

• Assist in reviewing plans and specifications, constructability, scheduling strategies, and risk identification during pre-bid.

• Collaborate with estimating and operations leadership on pricing, bid strategy, and competitive positioning.

• Engage in go/no-go discussions and recommend bid strategies.

• Ensure site readiness, including permitting, AHJ coordination, utilities, crane/set planning, access, and inspections.

• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, assumptions, and clarifications during pre-bid and contract review.

• Validate budgets, schedules, and scopes prior to contract execution.

• Provide strategic guidance on cost control, schedule performance, and subcontractor management.

• Lead discussions with customers regarding scope clarifications, change orders, delays, and risk mitigation, especially with public-sector and school district clients.

• Collaborate with regional and executive leadership on workload planning, staffing, and operational enhancements.

• Establish and enforce safety requirements.

• Develop or assist with Scopes of Work, Delineation of Responsibilities, and proposals for larger projects.

• Track and report project results and metrics.

• Provide status updates to regional leadership on milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues.

• Apply financial and functional acumen to ensure solutions align with client goals, best practices, and company risk thresholds.

• Ensure compliance with contracts and manage changes effectively.

• Address issues and risks to mitigate impacts on baseline budgets.

• Lead safety tailgate meetings at the beginning of project phases or shifts.

• Ensure job-site compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.

• Support projects across a region, necessitating approximately 50% travel to active job sites.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• 5–8 years of experience in construction-related fields.

• At least 3 years of experience in people leadership, including direct management, coaching, and development of Project Managers and/or Superintendents.

• Comprehensive understanding of project and program management principles, methods, and techniques.

• Demonstrated experience in managing and developing Project Managers and/or Superintendents.

• Experienced in supporting preconstruction activities, such as estimating, bidding, or pre-bid planning.

• Proven capability to lead projects through inspections, closeout, and owner turnover.

• Experience in managing multiple concurrent projects across various jurisdictions and ADJs with high complexity.

• Strong working knowledge of subcontracted trades, including civil, electrical, plumbing, crane/set crews, and modular installation tasks.

• Solid business and financial acumen.

• Exceptional leadership, written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to adapt to change and competing demands effectively.

• Technical proficiency in MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project management software.

• Strong team-building skills with both technical and non-technical staff.

• Experience working independently as well as within collaborative team environments.

• Excellent prioritization and time management abilities.

• Familiarity with safety field concepts, practices, and procedures.

• Strong organizational and customer service skills.

• Negotiation skills when dealing with customers and vendors/subcontractors.

• Capability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

• Experience directing the work of others.

• Ability to read and interpret construction plans accurately.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis.

• Must pass pre-employment drug testing, including marijuana, for this safety-sensitive position.

• Ability to engage in sustained physical activity and maintain manual dexterity.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and maintain balance.

• Ability to climb stairs and ladders, utilize construction personnel hoists, and navigate uneven or unfinished work areas.

• Ability to handle tools, equipment, and materials, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

• Good close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.

• Ability to hear alarms, bells, whistles, and verbal instructions in active construction environments.

• Ability to work indoors or outdoors, at elevated heights, and in varying weather, noise, odor, dust, or fume conditions.

• Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or provide emergency on-call support as needed.

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management is preferred but not mandatory.

• Preferred qualifications include experience in the modular building industry; familiarity with school districts, municipalities, or government authorities; ADA compliance knowledge; DSA and IBC knowledge; OSHA 30 certification; understanding of approval agencies and state requirements; and experience with Bluebeam and CAD.
