Senior Construction Project Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee projects from pre-bid stages through to contract completion and closeout.

• Take ownership of project outcomes from the Notice-to-Proceed until closeout.

• Manage project scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

• Act as the primary decision-maker for execution strategies, staffing, sequencing, and alignment with subcontractors.

• Utilize BuilderTrend for tracking progress, managing documentation, and facilitating communication.

• Proactively address risks, issues, and project change requests.

• Manage project P&L performance, including forecasting, cost-to-complete, contingency usage, and margin protection.

• Lead and supervise Project Managers and Site Superintendents, encompassing hiring, coaching, development, and accountability.

• Oversee multiple projects and project teams concurrently.

• Serve as the senior escalation point and decision authority for intricate project issues.

• Engage in pre-bid activities, such as reviewing plans and specifications, providing constructability input, devising scheduling strategies, and identifying risks.

• Collaborate with estimating and operations leadership on pricing, bid strategies, and competitive positioning.

• Participate in go/no-go discussions and recommend bid strategies.

• Ensure site readiness, handle permitting, coordinate with AHJ, manage utilities, crane/set planning, access, and inspections.

• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, assumptions, and clarifications during pre-bid and contract reviews.

• Review and validate project budgets, schedules, and scopes prior to contract execution.

• Provide strategic direction on cost control, schedule performance, and subcontractor management.

• Lead discussions with customers regarding scope clarifications, change orders, delays, and risk mitigation strategies.

• Collaborate with regional and executive leadership on workload planning, staffing strategies, and operational enhancements.

• Establish and uphold safety requirements.

• Lead or assist with Scopes of Work, Delineation of Responsibilities, and proposals for larger projects.

• Monitor and report on project outcomes and metrics.

• Provide status updates to regional leadership on milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues.

• Ensure compliance with contract stipulations and manage changes effectively.

• Manage project issues and risks to minimize impacts on baseline budgets.

• Conduct safety tailgate meetings at the beginning of project phases or shifts.

• Ensure job site activities adhere to OSHA and company safety standards.

• Travel frequently to active job sites during critical phases, approximately 50% regional travel.

• Perform other duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• 5–8 years of experience in construction-related fields.

• At least 3 years of experience in people leadership, including direct management, coaching, and development of Project Managers and/or Superintendents.

• In-depth understanding of project and program management principles, methods, and techniques.

• Proven track record in managing and developing Project Managers and/or Superintendents.

• Experience in supporting preconstruction activities, including estimating, bidding, or pre-bid planning.

• Experience in leading projects through inspections, closeouts, and owner turnovers.

• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects across various jurisdictions and ADJs with high complexity.

• Strong working knowledge of subcontracted trades, including civil, electrical, plumbing, crane/set crews, and modular installation activities.

• Strong business and financial acumen.

• Excellent leadership, written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

• Self-motivated and decisive, with the ability to adapt to changes and competing demands.

• Technical proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project management software.

• Team-building abilities with both technical and non-technical staff.

• Experience working independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

• Exceptional prioritization and time management skills.

• Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of safety concepts in the field, practices, and procedures.

• Well-organized with outstanding customer service skills.

• Negotiation skills with customers and vendors/subcontractors.

• Ability to manage multiple complex projects effectively.

• Experience directing the work of others to ensure successful project completion.

• Ability to read and interpret construction plans.

• Capability to perform sustained physical activity while maintaining manual dexterity.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform various physical tasks including bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and balancing.

• Ability to climb stairs and ladders, use construction personnel hoists, and navigate uneven or unfinished work areas.

• Capability to handle tools, equipment, and materials, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

• Adeptness in close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.

• Ability to hear alarms, bells, whistles, and verbal instructions in active construction settings.

• Ability to work indoors or outdoors, at elevated heights, and in varied weather, noise, odor, dust, or fume conditions.

• Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or provide emergency on-call support based on operational needs.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis.

• Must undergo pre-employment drug testing, including marijuana, for this safety-sensitive role.
