Senior Configuration Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Create and uphold software configuration management tools that facilitate configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software.

• Execute configuration management and release engineering activities.

• Record the operating parameters of new software products and ensure adherence to standard hardware configurations and logistical sustainability.

• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools utilizing programming, database, or scripting languages.

• Formulate and execute build procedures that support software product development and utilization.

• Establish software configuration standards for organization-wide application as required.

• Educate software developers on configuration management tools and software quality standards as necessary.

• Offer technical guidance and solutions to intricate problems.

• Ensure compliant and repeatable build and deployment processes across various projects.

• Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Supervise and mentor junior analysts/engineers in best practices for configuration management.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience; alternatively, an additional eight (8) years of relevant experience may replace formal education.

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related scientific/technical field is mandatory.

• Demonstrated success in leading and delivering complex software builds and releases across various environments.

• Prior experience in large, regulated enterprises or federal environments is advantageous.

• Extensive knowledge in software configuration management and release engineering, along with a wide-ranging understanding of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.

• Capability to provide technical guidance and solutions to complex issues, function independently, and make informed decisions.

• Proficiency in configuration management practices, including identification, baselining, change control, and status accounting.

• Familiarity with source control systems such as Git, GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps Repos, and Subversion, along with branching and merging strategies.

• Experience with CI/CD tools, including Jenkins, Azure DevOps Pipelines, and GitHub Actions, as well as artifact repositories like Nexus and Artifactory.

• Scripting proficiency in Bash, PowerShell, and Python.

• Experience in managing COTS software, vendor patches, and version control.

• Knowledge of infrastructure as code and environment management using Ansible and Terraform.

• Understanding of software quality standards, governance frameworks, and training developers on configuration management tools and quality practices.

• Proficient in work management tools such as JIRA, Azure Boards, and Trello, and documentation tools like Confluence, Visio, and Lucidchart.

• Awareness of database concepts, dependency management, and build reproducibility.

• Strong analytical abilities for diagnosing build failures, dependency conflicts, and deployment challenges.

• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to collaborate, mentor, lead, and train junior analysts/engineers in best practices for configuration management.

• Capacity to handle multiple priorities and projects in dynamic environments while meeting deadlines.

• Dedication to continuous improvement and staying updated on industry trends and emerging DevOps technologies.
