Senior Computer Systems Engineer – MuleSoft

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver solution architecture for the implementation of MuleSoft in NAVSUP AWS GovCloud.

• Oversee cross-platform design, Everything as Code practices, security architecture, strategies for availability and recovery, CI/CD methodologies, technical integration decisions, and daily engineering coordination.

• Assist in the design, integration, testing, deployment, documentation, and maintenance of the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.

• Create architecture and engineering standards to ensure high availability, disaster recovery, security, Everything as Code, CI/CD, monitoring, configuration management, and change control.

• Manage technical activities across MuleSoft, database, cloud, cybersecurity, and testing workstreams.

• Provide recommendations for high-availability architecture and develop agile prototypes.

• Determine reliability objectives, RTO/RPO targets, failover strategies, backup procedures, restoration processes, disaster-recovery tests, and rollback plans.

• Spearhead Everything as Code initiatives encompassing infrastructure, configuration, security, governance policies, testing, and CI/CD deployment.

• Design AWS GovCloud resources and controls, including EC2, S3, networking, IAM, logging, monitoring, and encryption.

• Set standards for source control, branching, peer review, automated testing, deployment, configuration management, and change control.

• Lead security engineering initiatives involving PKI, SSO, LDAP, OCSP, certificates, RBAC, least privilege, Zero Trust, logging, and vulnerability remediation.

• Coordinate RMF/ATO and STIG compliance activities along with the necessary documentation.

• Provide guidance on MuleSoft API architecture, data integration, performance testing, interoperability, and operational readiness.

• Review and approve technical designs, scripts, code, configurations, tests, diagrams, runbooks, and deployment packages.

• Establish continuous monitoring for availability, performance, errors, capacity, cost, API metrics, and data quality.

• Lead risk management efforts, issue resolution, root-cause analysis, vendor coordination, sprint planning, milestone reviews, Government briefings, and stakeholder decision support.

• Conduct hands-on knowledge transfer sessions for NAVSUP administrators and engineers.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience with Informatica.

• At least 10 years of senior-level experience in architecting enterprise platforms within AWS or AWS GovCloud from the design phase to production operations.

• In-depth knowledge of cloud computing, storage solutions, networking, security groups, load balancing, identity and access management, encryption, monitoring, performance, capacity, and cost optimization.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, Configuration as Code, Security or Policy as Code, automated testing, Git-based version control, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Proven experience in designing high availability solutions, backup strategies, disaster recovery, RTO/RPO configurations, failover processes, restoration testing, and rollback strategies for production systems.

• Familiarity with enterprise API, data integration, data governance, metadata management, data quality, and relational data warehouse architectures.

• Strong understanding of RMF/ATO, STIGs, NIST 800-53 controls, system hardening, PKI, SSO, RBAC, logging, vulnerability remediation, and Zero Trust concepts.

• Demonstrated capability to lead a small multidisciplinary engineering team while collaborating with Government technical, security, contracting, and program stakeholders.

• Ability to critically assess technical work, resolve cross-platform issues, manage risks, and maintain comprehensive architecture and operational documentation.

• U.S. citizenship with the capacity to fulfill privileged access, background investigation, CAC, SAAR, training, certification, and NDA requirements.

• Possession of a current DoD 8140.03 IAT Level II baseline certification at the start of performance: CompTIA Security+ CE or an approved substitute (CCNA, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or CND).

• Attain applicable computing-environment certification in AWS, Windows, Oracle, UNIX, or Linux within six months.

• A Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, or a related technical field is preferred.

• Preferred experience in AWS GovCloud architecture and DevSecOps practices supporting DoD or Federal production systems.

• Desired familiarity with AWS, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, Azure DevOps, MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, observability, Navy data, and Government API management.
