Senior Software Engineer – Embedded Application

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Collaborate within the engineering department as part of a SCRUM team utilizing an Agile framework.

• Engage in the specification, design, development, testing, and support of satellite communications system features from inception to completion.

• Assess requirements and RFCs to create effective software designs.

• Contribute to shaping the future of the satellite system and associated products, focusing on software architecture, infrastructure performance, testing, and reliability.

• Document, design, develop, test, and integrate software functionalities for satellite system components and their environments.

• Work collaboratively on design and validation with a multifunctional Scrum team comprising software, firmware, embedded, application, and test engineers.

• Diagnose and resolve technical challenges faced during the deployment of software solutions.

• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, electronics and communication engineering, information technology, a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Over 7 years of hands-on experience in C/C++ software development.

• Proficiency in designing, implementing, debugging, and maintaining PHY-MAC control-plane software on embedded ARM/Linux or X86 platforms.

• Experience in developing and optimizing real-time signal-processing algorithms on programmable DSP processors like CEVA, NXP, or similar architectures.

• Strong programming background with Vector C/C++, focusing on SIMD/vectorization and DSP algorithm optimization.

• Experience in implementing fixed-point DSP and digital communications algorithms on programmable DSP platforms.

• Familiarity with development, debugging, profiling, and performance optimization tools for programmable DSP processors.

• Experience in integrating DSP-based PHY implementations with higher-layer software, MAC/control software, FPGA interfaces, and embedded ARM processors.

• Knowledge of 5G NR/5G NTN MAC and PHY-MAC interactions.

• Experience addressing real-time embedded issues in multi-core/multi-CPU environments, including threading, optimization, memory management, and interrupt handling.

• Understanding of TCP/IP and sockets programming.

• Familiarity with 3GPP standards and 5G architecture.

• Experience with cloud technologies like AWS/Azure.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, presentation, documentation, and writing abilities.

• Self-motivated with potential for technical leadership and a proven track record in a structured development environment.

• Capacity to collaboratively drive technical solutions.

• Strong software design capabilities, including Object-Oriented Design and Object-Oriented Programming.

• Experience in developing quality, maintainable software.

• Previous experience in technical leadership and mentoring.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced development environment.

• Working knowledge of UML.

• Familiarity with software engineering practices throughout the entire software development life cycle.

• Experience in satellite/terrestrial communications systems.

• Practical experience with GDB and Valgrind.

• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.

• Experience with Jira and Jenkins.

• Background in developing unit, integration, and functional tests and test automation within a CI/CD pipeline.

• Proficient in shell scripting or Python.

• May be required to provide information for export-control, security-clearance, or other regulatory determinations.
