Senior Coder Abstractor – Outpatient Surgery

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Precisely code and abstract outpatient medical records in accordance with work assignments and anticipated productivity standards.

• Accurately code and abstract intricate outpatient surgical procedures.

• Assign ICD10-CM diagnosis and CPT-4 procedure codes based on established national and departmental guidelines, as well as the AHIMA Code of Ethics.

• Maintain a systematic organization for personal coding reference materials.

• Engage in educational activities to enhance and sustain coding skills.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information is mandatory.

• CCS certification along with 2 years of coding experience is acceptable.

• Certification as a Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is required.

• A minimum of two years of prior coding experience utilizing ICD10-CM and CPT-4 coding systems is necessary.

• Must fulfill vaccination or lab-confirmed immunity requirements for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella.

• Must obtain a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year of hiring and annually thereafter, or have an approved medical or religious exemption.
