Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and manage both internal and external infrastructure, tools, and services.

• Enhance software development, delivery, and overall developer experience within the product engineering team.

• Develop and integrate networking, security, logging, and application orchestration systems to support products for millions of users worldwide.

• Create identity and access management solutions that ensure secure operations while minimizing operational overhead.

• Establish reliable self-service options for resource provisioning and access requests.

• Economically provision infrastructure and develop visibility and tooling for engineers.

• Take ownership of reliability and resiliency outcomes for core infrastructure.

• Transform recurring support requests into reusable capabilities.

• Provide mentorship, shape engineering practices, and collaborate across various teams.

• Report to the Associate Director of Product Engineering within the Technology Enabling Services team.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a platform or infrastructure engineer delivering large-scale systems.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrated capability in product and systems thinking.

• Ability to self-manage immediate tasks while collaborating on long-term strategy development.

• Competence in executing regular system upgrades with minimal disruption to users.

• Proven experience in building cloud infrastructure with a leading infrastructure-as-a-service provider; AWS is highly preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to manage the configuration and performance of content delivery/edge network solutions such as Fastly, Cloudflare, or Amazon CloudFront.

• Proven experience with infrastructure-as-code tools; Terraform is strongly preferred.

• Experience operating orchestration platforms using containerized applications and ephemeral/scheduled workloads; familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus.

• Practical knowledge of an imperative programming language such as Python or Go.

• Experience with metric, log, and tracing infrastructure solutions; OpenTelemetry or Grafana experience is a plus.

• Familiarity with cloud security solutions, including web application firewalls.

• Practical experience providing a multi-region, multi-account, or multi-cloud delivery environment is advantageous.

• Expertise in contributing to or managing internal developer platforms, enablement tools, or shared services.

• Proven proficiency in authoring CI/CD pipelines; experience with GitLab CI/CD is a plus.

• Experience developing Terraform modules for consumers to facilitate resource provisioning.
