This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Formulate and implement strategies aimed at generating revenue through advertising, sponsorship, and partnerships with B2C brands and global advertising agencies.
• Establish and enhance a pipeline of new business opportunities within key consumer categories.
• Manage the entire sales process from prospecting to needs assessment, solution development, proposal creation, negotiation, contracting, renewal, and expansion.
• Create integrated, multi-channel marketing programs that utilize digital media, newsletters, podcasts, video content, branded materials, research, and thought leadership.
• Meet or surpass revenue targets while developing both short- and long-term partnership prospects.
• Seek and secure high-value, multi-year partnership agreements.
• Innovate sponsorship and advertising solutions that link brands with SHRM’s audience.
• Interpret client goals into tailored partnership strategies.
• Collaborate with teams across marketing, content, events, research, digital, product, finance, legal, and other internal departments.
• Identify pioneering concepts and emerging partnership models.
• Utilize audience intelligence, market research, performance metrics, and industry insights to showcase client value.
• Expand successful partnerships across various platforms, audiences, programs, and contract durations.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with senior executives including CMOs, brand marketers, media executives, agency leaders, and other key decision-makers.
• Represent SHRM at client meetings, agency presentations, industry events, conferences, and other external forums.
• Contribute to defining and executing SHRM’s B2C advertising and sponsorship market strategy.
• Evaluate market trends, advertiser priorities, competitive activities, and new media opportunities.
• Supply market intelligence and client feedback to enhance advertising products and sponsorship offerings.
• Identify monetization opportunities for SHRM’s audience, which includes senior business leaders, executives, entrepreneurs, small business owners, and high-income households.
• Act as a subject-matter expert on consumer advertising trends, agency dynamics, sponsorship models, and developing media opportunities.
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Business Administration, Media, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
• 10 or more years of increasingly responsible experience in media sales, advertising partnerships, integrated marketing, brand partnerships, sponsorship sales, or a related revenue-generating field.
• Proven track record of developing and closing substantial advertising and sponsorship partnerships, including seven-figure revenue opportunities.
• Demonstrated experience in selling integrated marketing and advertising solutions to major consumer brands and global advertising agencies.
• Established connections with senior marketing executives, brand leaders, and agency decision-makers.
• Familiarity with major agency holding companies and leading independent agencies.
• Experience in securing brand and performance marketing budgets across consumer sectors.
• Exceptional consultative selling, business development, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
• Capability to develop and communicate strategic partnership concepts tailored to sophisticated brands and agencies.
• Strong executive presence and ability to influence senior leadership.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to create new revenue opportunities.
• Proficient in strategic storytelling and presentation skills.
• Advanced understanding of digital media, including video, branded content, podcasts, newsletters, experiential marketing, sponsorships, and emerging advertising channels.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to structure, negotiate, and finalize complex partnerships.
• Proficient in utilizing data, audience insights, and performance metrics to back recommendations.
• Ability to navigate complex organizations and coordinate stakeholders through extended sales cycles.
• Understanding of agency structures, media planning and buying, brand marketing strategies, and advertising budget cycles.
• Capacity to operate independently and achieve results in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong collaboration and communication abilities.
• Capability to effectively leverage artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies.
