This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Assist in New Product Development and ongoing projects by evaluating certification feasibility and exploring new standards.
• Oversee all facets of the certification process within ISC.
• Engage in cross-functional team meetings and design reviews to offer input on standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with third-party certification organizations such as UL, CSA, MSHA, and DEKRA to secure global hazardous-location approvals.
• Provide support and address certification-related technical queries and internal customer needs.
• Keep certifications up to date and assess product modifications for ongoing compliance.
• Take part in standards development initiatives pertinent to ISC products.
• Assist the global mechanical and electrical hardware design team in obtaining agency approvals.
• Create, revise, and maintain technical documentation for submissions to certification bodies.
• Aid in quarterly internal and external certification audits.
• Adhere to, enforce, and enhance company engineering processes.
• Report directly to the Manager of Certification & Sensors.
• Travel domestically and internationally to certification sites; travel is less than 10%.
• Over 10 years of experience as a degreed Engineer with an emphasis on product certification.
• Familiarity with products designed for Intrinsically Safe Hazardous Environments.
• Proven experience managing third-party offshore teams for new product and product lifecycle maintenance.
• Knowledge of IEC/EN/UL 60079-0, IEC/EN/UL 60079-1, IEC/EN/UL 60079-11, UL 913, and CSA 157.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform tasks accurately with meticulous attention to detail.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical Engineering, from an accredited institution or equivalent degree/experience.
• Preferred familiarity with wireless, EMC, ordinary location, and gas performance standards.
• Significant experience using soldering equipment and mechanical tools.
• Background in working with battery-operated low-power designs.
• Some knowledge of wireless communication protocols (BLE, WiFi, Cellular, etc.).
• Experience with gas detection instrumentation.
• Proficiency in Windchill PLM, Oracle EBS, and JIRA.
• Solid understanding of Stage-Gate and Agile development methodologies.
• Experience with simulation tools and electronic lab equipment, including power supplies, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
