This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +14 more states.
• Offer financial tracking, reporting, and analytical support for the Director of Business & Planning.
• Collaborate with Finance, ITS, and APA Publishing departments to generate sales and financial reports.
• Develop and submit the APA Publishing budget.
• Present financial information to key stakeholders and the Publishing Management Team.
• Prepare monthly financial packages along with department-specific financial reports.
• Examine and investigate discrepancies and implement necessary corrections.
• Collect data from various systems and produce KPI-based reports to inform strategic decisions.
• Calculate, manage, and allocate royalties for books and journals in accordance with contractual agreements.
• Assist in semiannual revenue and expense forecasting.
• Ensure financial data is accurately represented in Planful.
• Aid in the compilation of the annual APA Publishing budget.
• Oversee new technology projects utilizing the Agile framework.
• Develop business cases, secure stakeholder approvals, and collaborate with product owners and developers on PUBS priorities.
• Generate monthly financial reports for APA Books stakeholders based on financials, inventory, eBook sales, and trend analysis.
• Manage contract-related processes, including approvals and uploads to legal databases.
• Provide ad hoc reporting, including sales reports categorized by product, region, and country.
• Collect, manipulate, and present data to facilitate strategic decision-making.
• Leverage emerging technologies and practices to enhance and streamline Financial Management processes.
• Execute assigned ad hoc financial reporting, special projects, and provide backup support.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred in business administration, accounting, or finance.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in data gathering/analysis, budgeting/finance, and/or business analysis.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Capability to convey financial results and variances/metrics to senior management.
• Proficient in articulating key business metrics and drivers.
• Advanced skills in Excel spreadsheets.
• Intermediate proficiency with GL software, such as Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Navigator is preferred.
• Intermediate skills in PowerPoint.
• 1–2 years of experience in writing/modifying queries and generating reports from Salesforce.
• 1–2 years of experience using JIRA or similar project management software.
• Familiarity with the Agile framework and business-case development.
