Senior Business Director – Environmental & Hazardous Waste Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take complete P&L responsibility for a $300M revenue, $45M EBITDA integrated services operation.

• Supervise a cross-functional team of around 90 employees in commercial, operations, and support roles.

• Own and implement the Annual Operating Plan focusing on revenue, Gross Margin, and EBITDA.

• Propel pipeline-driven growth through new business development, cross-selling, and churn recovery efforts.

• Direct performance management activities, including Monthly Operating Reviews (MORs), pipeline assessments, and KPI dashboards.

• Optimize the service portfolio to concentrate on targeted high-value verticals.

• Collaborate with Finance and Commercial teams to drive pricing strategy and value realization.

• Foster a robust safety and compliance culture that aligns with EH&S, environmental regulations, and risk mitigation standards.

• Act as the executive sponsor for enterprise clients.

• Build collaborative relationships across Commercial Development, Operations, and Supply Chain teams.

• Lead joint account strategies and cross-selling initiatives.

• Manage relationships with vendors and disposal networks.

• Represent the organization in executive meetings, customer engagements, and industry forums.

• Define and implement the long-term ChemCare / OSS strategy.

• Integrate services into Univar’s broader commercial framework.

• Drive segmentation, targeting, and growth strategies.

• Spearhead business transformation initiatives, focusing on process standardization, technology enablement, and optimizing the operating model.

• Promote the use of digital tools, automation, analytics, and system integration.

• Identify strategic investment opportunities for growth and scalability.

• Position the integrated lifecycle service offering as a unique competitive advantage.

• Cultivate a culture of accountability and ongoing improvement.

• Align organizational structure to facilitate growth.

• Champion talent development and succession planning efforts.

• Lead initiatives for organizational change and transformation.

• Enhance revenue, Gross Margin, pipeline health, customer retention, cross-sell penetration, EBITDA performance, and operational efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

• Over 10 years of leadership experience in the hazardous waste sector.

• Demonstrated P&L leadership capabilities.

• Strong commercial insight and leadership in growth.

• Experience in regulated environments, including EH&S and waste services.

• Proven track record of leading transformation initiatives.

• Ability to operate both strategically and tactically.

• Must be open to being based anywhere in the United States.

• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
