Senior Business Analyst – Commercial P&C / MGA

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collect and document business requirements from MGA stakeholders and underwriters.

• Convert business requirements into Sure Commercial configurations, user stories, workflows, and functional specifications.

• Conduct fit-gap analysis and outline configuration versus integration needs.

• Assist with commercial insurance product, underwriting, rating, and policy transaction requirements.

• Define workflows for broker submissions and the process from submission to binding.

• Support integrations with rating engines, carriers, brokers, accounting, and other downstream systems.

• Develop user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and business rules.

• Assist with SIT, UAT, testing, defect analysis, and obtaining business sign-off.

• Lead client workshops.

• Collaborate closely with product owners, architects, developers, and QA teams.

• Aid in the implementation of Sure Commercial.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of Business Analysis experience with substantial Commercial P&C expertise.

• Deep understanding of the MGA business model and the underwriting lifecycle.

• Familiarity with MGAs, specialty insurers, program administrators, or delegated underwriting organizations.

• Comprehensive knowledge of commercial P&C, underwriting, appetite, eligibility, rating, quote/bind, and policy transactions.

• Experience with at least one commercial insurance platform.

• Strong proficiency in user stories, acceptance criteria, functional specifications, process flows, and business rules.

• Background in implementation, configuration, SIT, and UAT.

• Excellent client-facing communication skills and experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

• Experience with Commercial Lines and Workers’ Compensation is highly desirable.

• Preferred experience in MGA or specialty insurance implementation.

• Familiarity with ISO/Verisk, RAS, external rating engines, or insurance data services.

• Experience with REST APIs, JSON/XML, data mapping, and integrations.

• Exposure to JIRA, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Postman, or SQL.
