• Develop and enhance complex analysis pipelines utilizing bioinformatics algorithms.

• Direct result interpretation and reporting standards, taking into account medical and commercial requirements.

• Set quality control metrics and procedures to guarantee data integrity.

• Enhance accuracy, cost of goods sold (COGS), and turnaround time (TAT).

• Lead verification and validation initiatives in accordance with compliance protocols.

• Interface with clinical and commercial stakeholders by leveraging bioinformatic data.

• Assess genomic data to provide confident results for complex variants and identify system limitations.

• Architect and implement sophisticated software systems.

• Design systems and APIs that are maintainable, debuggable, and observable.

• Establish development standards through quality feedback on design proposals.

• Improve system reliability and performance by employing appropriate metrics.

• Conduct technical design reviews for optimally sized components.

• Implement robust testing frameworks in collaboration with team leads.

• Guide technical architecture decisions for related software systems.

• Establish monitoring systems that support debuggability and observability.

• Promote the adoption of engineering best practices within and across teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 10 or more years of experience in bioinformatics, molecular biology, computational biology, or engineering, OR Master’s degree with 6 years of experience in these fields, OR PhD with 4 or more years of experience in these fields.

• Familiarity with regulatory requirements in bioinformatics, including compliance and documentation needs.

• Proven track record of developing principled, robust, high-quality solutions to open-ended challenges.

• Understanding of bioinformatics algorithms and the statistical and probabilistic techniques that underpin them.

• Knowledge of molecular biology relevant to one or more products.

• Strong background in selecting suitable datasets while avoiding assumptions and biases.

• Proven project leadership abilities for complex issues that require the evaluation of multiple factors.

• Excellence in devising methods and processes for new assignments.

• Strategic thinking skills in selecting methods and adapting complex techniques.

• Expertise in stakeholder management across scientific and engineering domains.

• Advanced communication abilities for persuading diverse stakeholders while conveying broader organizational messages.

• Preferred: 2 or more years of experience in leading technical projects.

• Preferred: 2 or more years of experience in system architecture and design utilizing BWA, GATK, Deep variance, Dragen, Nextflow, Python, SKLearn, SciPy, PyTORCH, CI/CD, or GitHub Actions.
