Senior Backend Software Engineer I – Tech Lead, Ruby on Rails, Go

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Act as the Technical Lead for the VS Integrations team.

• Design and enhance the core product utilizing Ruby on Rails or Go.

• Create innovative features that enhance the solution's value.

• Produce high-quality code and deploy AI-driven solutions.

• Establish and advance the architecture of integration systems.

• Make informed technical decisions regarding technology stacks, patterns, and trade-offs.

• Ensure consistency in technology across services, modules, and integrations.

• Provide technical leadership to the team, offering guidance to frontend team members.

• Serve as a reference for coding, design, and debugging practices.

• Mentor backend and frontend engineers at various experience levels.

• Set and uphold quality standards for code, testing, and observability.

• Lead code reviews, refactoring, and the documentation of technical designs.

• Aid in deconstructing complex problems into manageable deliverables.

• Identify technical risks early and assist in estimation and planning efforts.

• Collaborate with PMs and Designers to create technically feasible solutions.

• Assess technical costs against delivered value and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Support production operations and ensure reliability, particularly during critical incidents.

• Strive for continuous improvement in MTTR, availability, and resilience, adhering to the “you build it, you run it” philosophy.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in backend development.

• Preferably experienced with Ruby on Rails or Go.

• Prior experience as a technical reference or providing leadership for a team.

• Strong understanding of relational databases, such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, and efficient data modeling.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and AWS.

• Solid knowledge of Datadog/Grafana.

• Proficient in messaging systems like Sidekiq, SQS, or Kafka.

• Experience with automated testing, using RSpec or similar frameworks.

• Knowledge of SOLID principles and design patterns.

• Experience in developing scalable RESTful APIs.

• Proficient with Git/Linux.

• Familiar with LLM integrations, AI frameworks, or the development of data-driven features.

• Experienced in system architecture and making technical decisions in trade-off scenarios.

• Sufficient frontend knowledge to review architectural decisions and ensure effective backend integration.

• Possess technical leadership skills for mentoring fellow developers.

• Demonstrate autonomy, proactivity, and a results-driven approach.

• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Experience with system integrations, third-party APIs, webhooks, CRMs/ERPs, or connector platforms is a plus.

• Experience providing technical support to corporate or enterprise accounts is a plus.
