Senior Backend Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Egypt, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design and develop highly secure, fault-tolerant APIs and distributed systems architecture.

• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to swiftly iterate and prototype digital products.

• Write clean, well-structured, and thoroughly documented code.

• Make strategic, proactive choices regarding the maintenance and enhancement of projects.

• Enhance existing codebases with minimal supervision.

• Collaborate closely with infrastructure and frontend teams.

• Assume responsibility for critical technology decisions, ensuring scalability and high performance.

• Design and uphold CI/CD pipelines for smooth deployment and integration.

• Conduct code reviews and refine working methodologies.

• Develop profound expertise in payments and enhance the merchant developer experience.

• Create comprehensive internal project documentation.

• Lead a small group of engineers in the creation of reliable and highly secure products.

• Take full responsibility for project delivery and system performance.

• Complete a structured onboarding process covering the platform, payment flows, architecture, and engineering practices.

• Contribute to production work and gradually tackle more complex technical challenges.

• Own a significant area of the backend following the onboarding process.

⛳️ Requirements

• A high level of empathy and a strong capacity for learning.

• Senior experience in building high-performance distributed systems and scalable architectures.

• Proficient in Django, Django Rest Framework, Postgres, and Redis.

• Experience in CI/CD pipeline management and deployment automation.

• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools, such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of GitOps practices and tools, like ArgoCD.

• Experience with modern development practices, including DDD, BDD, and TDD, is highly desirable.

• A passion for clean, well-tested code.

• Comprehensive understanding of the entire development lifecycle: design, development, and deployment.

• Experience in product companies, ideally within the fintech or payment infrastructure sectors.

• Experience in a small-team, fast-paced startup environment.

• A highly motivated self-starter who values autonomy and achieving results.

• Strong accountability mindset with the ability to manage end-to-end delivery.

• Experience in payment infrastructure is a significant advantage.
