Senior Backend Engineer, Python, AWS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Create and implement scalable backend applications and services utilizing Python.

• Architect systems that integrate various internal and external services.

• Break down intricate business challenges into well-defined services with clear ownership and boundaries.

• Develop and construct REST APIs and backend services.

• Design strong domain models, reusable components, and maintainable software abstractions.

• Construct reliable data ingestion and transformation pipelines.

• Establish integration patterns that incorporate error handling, retries, and data consistency.

• Create cloud-native applications leveraging AWS services.

• Convert business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.

• Diagnose production issues across application and cloud infrastructure layers.

• Engage in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and code evaluations.

• Guide engineers and advocate for best practices in software design and engineering.

• Work collaboratively with Product, Data, AI, and Engineering teams.

• Follow company policies and procedures diligently.

• Meet or surpass performance targets for associated KPIs.

• Continuously enhance knowledge through training and learning initiatives.

• Collaborate with other departments as required.

• Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional demeanor towards customers and colleagues.

• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least five (5) years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Extensive experience in developing backend applications using Python.

• Strong comprehension of software architecture and distributed system design.

• Proven experience in designing scalable systems with well-defined service boundaries.

• Background in designing domain models for complex business processes.

• Familiarity with integrating multiple APIs and third-party systems.

• Experience in designing and building REST APIs.

• In-depth understanding of integration architecture, data contracts, synchronization strategies, retries, and fault tolerance.

• Experience in building or supporting data ingestion and transformation pipelines.

• Knowledge of data modeling and mapping concepts.

• Proficient with AWS cloud services, ideally including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, and CloudWatch.

• Experience in designing event-driven or asynchronous processing workflows.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.

• Experience in mentoring engineers and contributing to technical direction.

• Availability to work the 7pm–4am MNL, Monday–Friday schedule.
