Senior Backend Engineer – PHP, Symfony

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of features from understanding problems and designing solutions to production release and continuous improvement.

• Create scalable, dependable, and maintainable backend services, APIs, and data models.

• Define and break down tasks, make architectural choices, and present solutions to the team.

• Question requirements and technical methods to discover better, simpler, or more efficient solutions.

• Develop new functionalities and enhance the existing codebase, ensuring adequate test coverage.

• Leverage data, logs, and customer feedback to troubleshoot issues and inform product and technical decisions.

• Utilize AI tools for development, code refactoring, code review, testing, documentation, and problem investigation.

• Automate repetitive tasks and enhance observability, alerting, and release processes.

• Engage in on-call and support rotations, investigate incidents and customer-reported issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term fixes.

• Prepare release plans and oversee deployment processes.

• Collaborate with Backend, Frontend, iOS, Android, Support, and other teams.

• Enhance engineering practices, propose initiatives, and share expertise.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of backend engineering experience, including complete ownership of complex features or services.

• Strong expertise in PHP and Symfony.

• Comprehensive understanding of system and API design, design patterns, clean coding practices, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD).

• Practical experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, and IAM.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and serverless architectures.

• Strong debugging and profiling skills using Xdebug and Blackfire.

• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and observability tools.

• Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and frameworks like ExpressJS or NestJS.

• Regular daily use of AI in development workflows, including validating AI outputs.

• Good grasp of application security and OWASP principles.
