Senior Backend Engineer, Java – Core

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Develop backend code and conduct tests utilizing open-source technologies

• Enhance code quality through testing, refactoring, and peer evaluations

• Advocate for software quality, innovation, and suitable technology selections

• Collaborate effectively within an Agile Scrum team, engaging in stand-ups, planning meetings, showcases, and retrospectives

• Partner with business stakeholders and internal users to design and deliver products

• Contribute to comprehensive user stories and iterative technical design processes

• Conduct root cause analysis to mitigate recurring errors

• Assist in establishing coding standards and guidelines, ensuring adherence

• Provide operational support for solutions after hours on a rotating schedule of one week per month

• Collaborate within a cross-functional team of 10 BE/QA/DevOps engineers alongside an Architect and Tech Lead

• Develop within a high-load, integration-intensive iGaming platform environment

⛳️ Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, and related technologies: JUnit, Web Application Servers (e.g., Jetty/Tomcat), Gradle/Maven

• Proficient in MySQL with the ability to write optimized database queries

• Solid understanding of architectural software principles, Object-Oriented design, MVC/MV* architectures, and asynchronous server communication

• Familiarity with multi-threaded programming and concurrency

• Experience in designing and developing RESTful web services

• Knowledgeable in web software architectures and design patterns

• Promote agile principles and support Continuous Delivery, TDD, and Refactoring

• Experience with a tracking system such as JIRA

• Willingness and ability to learn about the business domain and new technologies

• Familiarity with Groovy, Spock, and Hibernate

• Experience with cloud services like AWS or Google App Engine

• Proficient in using Google Analytics and logging services such as Datadog, Grafana, and Splunk

• Experienced in using Docker for automated environment setups for development and testing

• Proven track record of delivering scalable applications that perform well under high traffic

• Comfortable working in a Linux environment with scripting languages
