Senior Backend Engineer – FinOps, AI Cost Intelligence Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and develop backend-intensive features for the FinOps and AI cost intelligence platform.

• Operationalize AI-driven functionalities such as anomaly detection, recommendations, and agent-based workflows.

• Integrate AI throughout the phases of prototyping, testing, iteration, and deployment.

• Create and construct distributed data pipelines that process cloud billing, usage, and AI telemetry.

• Develop robust systems capable of managing backfills, late-arriving data, and historical reprocessing.

• Design scalable data models and APIs that power customer-facing analytics and AI cost insights.

• Collaborate closely with the Product team to transform vision into deployed features.

• Identify obstacles early, communicate effectively, and iterate swiftly.

• Influence engineering standards and practices as the product evolves.

• Develop AI features with evaluation metrics, feedback mechanisms, and safeguards for accuracy, latency, cost, and explainability.

• Deliver at least two production-ready features within the first 6–12 months.

• Establish repeatable AI engineering methodologies, including evaluation frameworks, rollout strategies, and rollback systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Strong backend proficiency in Python, with Java or C++ as additional languages.

• Experience in building and managing data-intensive backend systems or pipelines in production environments.

• In-depth understanding of data modeling, reliability, and data processing.

• Capability to design scalable systems and guide them from concept to production.

• Experience leveraging AI-driven development to enhance and propel product development.

• Practical experience with AWS.

• Proven track record of implementing AI in real-world production systems, beyond mere experimentation.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity with product-led guidance.

• Ability to architect backend services that support asynchronous workflows, event-driven pipelines, and AI agents.

• Proficient in discussing AI trade-offs related to latency, explainability, data availability, and long-term maintainability.

• Ability to narrate a compelling product journey while explaining decisions and trade-offs.

• Ability to clearly communicate technical challenges and collaborate on resolutions.
