Staff Software Engineer – Backend, Consumer, Agentic Trading

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of backend services that drive Coinbase Advisor and Strategies, overseeing everything from technical design to launch and continuous operation.

• Create integrations with Coinbase trading APIs to ensure accurate and auditable execution of recommendations and user-defined strategies.

• Develop the agentic harness, which includes tool invocation, orchestration, persistent state management, and recovery from any failed or partially completed actions.

• Influence agent behavior through prompt engineering, evaluations, and conversation analysis.

• Collaborate with the registered investment adviser on modifications to financial advice.

• Enhance service reliability, latency, observability, and execution safety, incorporating retry mechanisms and safeguards to prevent duplicate actions.

• Work closely with frontend engineering, product, design, trading infrastructure, and legal/compliance teams to deliver customer-facing capabilities while adhering to regulatory guidelines.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Extensive backend knowledge with a proven history of launching and managing production services.

• Strong background in API design, distributed systems, data modeling, testing, and resolving production failures.

• Proficient in Go or a demonstrated capacity to learn it swiftly.

• Experience in developing production LLM or agentic systems, encompassing tool invocation, orchestration, or evaluation.

• Capability to navigate ambiguous projects from inception to production with minimal supervision, alongside sound product and technical judgment.

• Responsible utilization of generative AI with human oversight.
