This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, and manage Python backend services and RESTful APIs to handle clinical data.
• Advance scalable clinical data models utilizing FHIR and HL7 standards.
• Define boundaries, ownership, and agreements across various clinical data domains.
• Create and sustain batch and event-driven pipelines that ingest, transform, validate, and deliver clinical data.
• Implement automated processes for validation, testing, reconciliation, and monitoring to ensure data quality and reliability.
• Develop transformation layers and curated datasets for clinical reporting, operational analytics, product functionality, and AI applications.
• Establish documentation practices for data, including lineage, provenance, versioning, retention, and auditability.
• Collaborate with teams in clinical, product, application engineering, architecture, data analytics, and AI.
• Lead design conversations, contribute to architectural choices, review implementations, mentor engineers, and set engineering standards.
• 6–8 years of experience in software engineering, including ownership of production services and databases.
• Extensive experience in developing production Python applications and APIs using FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
• Proficient in designing and managing scalable ingestion, transformation, and delivery pipelines through batch, streaming, or event-driven methods.
• Practical experience with clinical or healthcare data.
• Strong knowledge of FHIR resources, HL7 standards, terminology, and interoperability challenges.
• Experience in designing normalized, dimensional, and domain-specific data models.
• Capable of independently leading complex projects, making informed technical decisions, and balancing short-term goals with long-term maintainability.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and should not require employer sponsorship for a work visa, now or in the future.
• Candidates selected must pass a background check.
• Preferred: experience with FHIR servers, clinical data repositories, electronic health record systems, or medical imaging and reporting workflows.
• Preferred: familiarity with SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, or DICOM.
• Preferred: experience with cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and clinical reporting or AI-enabled healthcare products.
