Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of backend solutions from start to finish: comprehend the business challenge, define requirements, architect the solution, develop it, test it, deploy it, and manage it in a live environment.

• Design and enhance services for optimal performance, scalability, resilience, and data integrity.

• Make informed technical decisions with a comprehensive understanding of constraints, alternatives, and trade-offs involved.

• Ensure that code and systems remain maintainable as products and requirements evolve over time.

• Troubleshoot complex production issues, address root causes, and implement measures to prevent recurrence.

• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to transform intricate requirements into straightforward, robust solutions.

• Critically review work, share knowledge, and elevate the engineering standards within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated ownership of backend services that have been built and operated within a microservices architecture.

• Strong understanding of communication protocols such as HTTP, WebSockets, and AMQP, including when to utilize each one effectively.

• Proficient in at least one modern backend framework with production experience.

• Extensive knowledge of relational databases, covering aspects like indexing, transactions, isolation levels, locking mechanisms, and high-performance design.

• Proven history of designing systems that prioritize high availability, scalability, and resilience.

• Ability to solve problems in a clear and structured manner, along with the capacity to articulate technical decisions and their trade-offs.

• Strong engineering fundamentals, sound judgement, and a willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies.

• Depth of knowledge in one backend ecosystem is more valuable than a superficial familiarity with every technology listed.
