Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of backend solutions from start to finish: comprehend the business challenge, define requirements, design the solution, implement it, test it, deploy it, and manage it in a production environment.

• Design and enhance services focusing on performance, scalability, resilience, and data integrity.

• Make well-informed technical decisions while fully understanding constraints, alternatives, and trade-offs.

• Ensure the maintainability of code and systems as products and requirements evolve over time.

• Investigate challenging production issues, address root causes, and implement measures to prevent future occurrences.

• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to transform complex requirements into straightforward, durable solutions.

• Critically evaluate work, share knowledge, and elevate the engineering standards within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated ownership of backend services developed and operated in a microservices architecture.

• Strong understanding of communication protocols such as HTTP, WebSockets, and AMQP, including their appropriate applications.

• Proficient in at least one modern backend framework within a production environment.

• Extensive knowledge of relational databases, covering aspects like indexing, transactions, isolation levels, locking mechanisms, and high-performance design.

• Proven experience in designing systems for high availability, scalability, and resilience.

• Ability to approach problems in a clear, structured manner and articulate technical decisions and trade-offs effectively.

• Solid engineering fundamentals, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn new technologies confidently.

• Expertise in one backend ecosystem is more valuable than superficial familiarity with all listed technologies.
