Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take full responsibility for backend development, encompassing architecture, system design, implementation, deployment, and production support.

• Create products from the ground up and scale them as user demand and business complexity increase.

• Design robust APIs, database structures, microservices, and event-driven workflows.

• Make architectural choices that balance performance, scalability, consistency, security, and maintainability.

• Construct distributed systems with fault tolerance, reliable communication, and suitable data consistency guarantees.

• Enhance monitoring, logging, metrics, and alerting systems.

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and cloud infrastructure management.

• Provide mentorship to teammates through design discussions, code reviews, and practical technical guidance.

• Collaborate with product and engineering teams, taking ownership of delivery and product outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong experience in building and managing production backend systems.

• Proficiency in any backend programming language, with solid engineering fundamentals and a willingness to work with Java/Golang; prior experience in Java/Golang is not required.

• Comprehensive understanding of design patterns, architectural principles, and system design.

• Practical experience with databases, data modeling, query optimization, and API development.

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing, and distributed systems.

• Strong grasp of distributed consistency, concurrency, scalability, and failure management.

• Knowledge of application security, including authentication, authorization, and secure data handling practices.

• Basic understanding of DevOps principles, such as CI/CD, containers, and Kubernetes.

• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud; AWS experience is also acceptable.

• Ability to work autonomously, communicate technical decisions effectively, and mentor peers in a remote setting.

• Preferred experience in startups, particularly in building products from inception to launch and scaling them.

• Preference for candidates with experience in owning architecture and delivering greenfield products.

• Background in anti-fraud, commercial banking, or growth engineering is a plus.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity, taking ownership, and balancing delivery speed with engineering quality.
