Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Develop, maintain, and enhance backend services.

• Lead and assist a team focused on ensuring client systems operate seamlessly.

• Manage and investigate client support tickets, encompassing errors, configuration requests, and operational problems.

• Analyze logs, API behavior, monitoring alerts, and system data to determine root causes.

• Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to efficiently address issues.

• Implement or coordinate configuration changes within the system according to client requirements.

• Utilize Datadog or similar platforms to oversee system health and performance.

• Employ Postman, Insomnia, or curl to test requests, confirm behavior, and troubleshoot issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software development experience, including building and supporting production applications.

• Demonstrated experience in leading or coordinating engineering, support, or technical operations teams.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot, covering REST controllers, dependency injection, configuration, and backend service development.

• Proficient in designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices.

• Familiar with JUnit, Mockito, or similar testing frameworks.

• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and best practices in software engineering.

• Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases, as well as relational databases like PostgreSQL.

• Knowledge of Redis or similar caching technologies.

• Familiarity with AWS or comparable cloud platforms.

• Understanding of communication patterns in microservices, including asynchronous messaging and event-driven architectures.

• Daily hands-on experience with AI development tools such as Claude Code or similar for coding, debugging, testing, and enhancing development workflows.

• Ability to review, validate, and take ownership of AI-generated code.

• Experience in troubleshooting production issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing reliable solutions.

• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and professional software development practices.

• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities.

• Proficient in English communication skills – C1 level proficiency.

• Familiarity with message queues and event-driven systems.

• Experience in building AI agents, custom skills, MCP servers, or engineering automations using Claude Code, Claude API, or similar technologies.

• Experience in creating technical documentation and context files for AI development tools.

• Experience in performance optimization, database indexing, and distributed systems.
