Managing Engineer, Java Engineering

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop software engineering teams.

• Offer guidance on career development, mentorship, and performance assessments.

• Contribute high-quality Java code, conduct code reviews, troubleshoot intricate issues, and assist in technical delivery.

• Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, Security, and business leaders to transform strategic goals into technological solutions.

• Direct product discovery, planning, prioritization, and delivery within Agile environments.

• Establish and refine application architectures, technical roadmaps, and engineering standards.

• Promote automated testing, CI/CD, DevOps, observability, and secure coding methodologies.

• Ensure applications maintain scalability, security, reliability, and production support.

• Eliminate technical and organizational hurdles.

• Lead retrospectives and initiatives for continuous improvement.

• Encourage collaboration across engineering teams.

• Assist in workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, succession planning, and talent development.

• Define and track engineering metrics related to quality, delivery, reliability, and operational performance.

• Advise technology and business stakeholders on engineering best practices and emerging technologies.

• Oversee performance management, coaching, career progression, hiring, onboarding, succession planning, talent retention, and fostering an inclusive engineering culture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of software engineering experience, including leadership of engineering teams delivering enterprise applications and services (or equivalent).

• Experience in managing or leading software engineers within Agile development frameworks (or equivalent).

• Proven ability and readiness to engage in hands-on coding while guiding and developing an engineering team.

• Strong practical experience with Java and Spring Boot development, encompassing design, coding, testing, and troubleshooting of enterprise applications.

• In-depth understanding of software architecture, microservices, distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native application development.

• Familiarity with relational database technologies.

• Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery methodologies.

• Background in supporting production applications with an emphasis on reliability, monitoring, and operational excellence.

• Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.

• Experience in leading technical planning, estimation, prioritization, and execution efforts.

• Demonstrated success in attracting, developing, mentoring, and retaining engineering talent.

• Experience collaborating with Product Management and business stakeholders to deliver customer-centric solutions.

• Preferred: experience leading teams using React, Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Oracle, and microservices architectures.

• Preferred: experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and high-volume transactional applications.

• Preferred: familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Kubernetes environments.

• Preferred: knowledge of object-oriented design, domain-driven design, API-first development, and secure coding practices.

• Preferred: experience with automated testing strategies, infrastructure automation, and DevOps methodologies.

• Preferred: experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, or similar messaging frameworks.

• Preferred: experience in leading application modernization, cloud migrations, and transitioning from monolithic to microservices architectures.

• Preferred: strong comprehension of monitoring, logging, performance optimization, and reliability engineering.

• Preferred: experience in insurance, claims, financial services, warranty services, or other highly regulated sectors.

• Background investigation is required.
