Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Design and develop backend systems utilizing Python and PostgreSQL.

• Engage in financial systems and projects that encompass transactions, revenue, payments, financial reporting, and process automation.

• Enhance, maintain, and optimize API performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Utilize Redis caching systems.

• Implement AI agents, AI-driven backend workflows, and AI-enhanced development tools.

• Collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams, as well as external vendors and stakeholders.

• Clarify requirements across various cross-functional environments.

• Operate within AWS and cloud-based settings.

• Monitor and enhance systems using Datadog and other observability tools.

• Work with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ and Kafka.

• Contribute to the development of distributed or event-driven systems and improvements in backend reliability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience as a Backend Engineer.

• A minimum of 1–2 years of recent hands-on experience with Python.

• Strong expertise in Python for backend development.

• Solid proficiency in PostgreSQL and understanding of relational database concepts.

• Experience with financial projects or systems, including handling financial transactions, revenue processing, payments, financial reporting, and automation of financial processes.

• Familiarity with AI agents or AI-driven backend workflows.

• Proven experience in building, maintaining, and enhancing API performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Experience with caching solutions like Redis.

• Practical knowledge of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar technologies.

• Understanding of AWS and cloud-based environments.

• Experience with monitoring and observability tools like Datadog.

• Knowledge of messaging systems such as RabbitMQ and Kafka.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

• Proficient in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
