Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage reliable, scalable APIs and services using Python with Django and Django REST Framework.

• Lead architectural enhancements related to data modeling, service boundaries, messaging patterns, and zero-downtime migrations.

• Collaborate with DevOps on pipeline and infrastructure development utilizing Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.

• Advocate for trunk-based development practices and ensure deployment safety.

• Create and uphold unit and integration tests.

• Work alongside Frontend, Mobile, UX, and Product teams to define solutions and negotiate API specifications.

• Guide engineers through structured feedback, pairing, and design evaluations.

• Contribute to the sharing of knowledge within the chapter through presentations and documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in Python with extensive experience in Django and Django REST Framework.

• In-depth knowledge of RESTful API design and versioning.

• Strong expertise in SQL and PostgreSQL, including performance tuning, indexing, partitioning, and schema evolution.

• Experience in developing resilient asynchronous systems utilizing Celery and message brokers like RabbitMQ.

• Practical knowledge of caching strategies with Redis, encompassing eviction policies and cache-aside approaches.

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and GitHub Actions.

• Experience with canary deployments and feature flags.

• Focused on product observability with SLIs/SLOs, actionable alerts, and trace-to-log correlation.

• Skills in profiling, tracing, instrumentation, documentation, and regression testing.

• Data-informed problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

• Proactive in anticipating challenges and proposing enhancements.

• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills across design, product, and engineering teams.
