Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with the founders to shape product and technical strategies.

• Develop and maintain the Python/Django backend that supports the consumer dashboard and B2B platform.

• Create new functionalities for APIs that enhance the consumer dashboard and facilitate customer reporting.

• Optimize performance and reliability within Celery and RabbitMQ pipelines.

• Integrate third-party services, including payment and identity providers like Stripe and WorkOS SSO.

• Conduct backend code assessments and engage in peer reviews with other Senior Engineers.

• Take ownership of features from inception to completion, ensuring post-release production stability.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in developing production web applications.

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Python and Django.

• Proven production experience with Celery, RabbitMQ, and Redis.

• Familiarity with data structures, concurrency, SQL, and system architecture.

• Excellent written communication skills.

• Ability to work asynchronously across different time zones.

• Strong self-direction and commitment to follow-through.

• Experience with DRF and/or django-ninja.

• Proficiency in Postgres tuning and query analysis.

• Knowledge of Kubernetes and AWS.

• Experience with Stripe, WorkOS SSO, or other third-party API integrations.

• Familiarity with HTMX, React, or both.

• Background in consumer privacy or related industries.

• Experience with AI coding assistants (such as Claude Code, etc.).
