Senior Backend Developer, Spark

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance scalable Big Data solutions utilizing Apache Spark.

• Lead technical decisions and play a key role in the architecture of data processing solutions.

• Create, maintain, and optimize Big Data pipelines.

• Support data integration efforts across various systems and workstreams.

• Ensure the performance, scalability, and reliability of data processing applications.

• Diagnose and resolve complex technical and performance-related issues.

• Collaborate with both technical and functional stakeholders to define and implement solutions.

• Advocate for Agile development methodologies and contribute to CI/CD and DevOps practices.

• Mentor and assist junior and mid-level developers by sharing best practices and technical expertise.

• Investigate and endorse emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development and automation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of hands-on experience in developing Big Data solutions using Apache Spark.

• Strong programming skills in Scala (preferred) or Python.

• Proficient in SQL and experienced in data modeling.

• Familiarity with Big Data platforms like Azure Databricks and Apache Hive or similar Spark-based environments.

• Experience working within Agile settings and implementing CI/CD and DevOps best practices.

• Hands-on experience with tools such as Git, GitHub, SonarQube, and Nexus.

• Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.

• Proactive attitude with the capability to work independently and take ownership of technical solutions.

• Experience in mentoring and supporting fellow team members.

• Proficiency in English at a B2 level or higher.

• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Control-M or Apache Airflow is a plus.

• Knowledge of Hadoop ecosystems is advantageous.

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools or involvement in AI-driven projects is a bonus.
