Senior Backend Developer, Python, Data Engineering, GCP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain Python backend services, APIs, and asynchronous workflows in a production environment.

• Create and enhance ETL pipelines, scheduled tasks, and intricate BigQuery queries on extensive historical and real estate datasets encompassing over 30,000 ZIP codes.

• Oversee Google Cloud Platform services including Compute Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, monitoring, and load balancing.

• Precompute, package, compress, and cache data to effectively support high-traffic applications.

• Implement frontend modifications in React, Next.js, and TypeScript using AI assistants to integrate backend APIs with the user interface.

• Take ownership of features from data ingestion and ETL processing through BigQuery, APIs, and frontend delivery.

• Track production features to assess user adoption and performance utilizing PostHog product analytics.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant professional experience in developing production backend systems and APIs using Python.

• Extensive knowledge of BigQuery and advanced SQL while working with large datasets (historical/geographic data).

• Direct experience in managing GCP infrastructure (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub).

• Proficient in building ETL pipelines, background jobs, queues, and asynchronous workflows.

• Sufficient knowledge of React / Next.js / TypeScript to effectively navigate an existing frontend codebase.

• Daily practical use of AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot) for refactoring, writing tests, and creating frontend components.

• Proficient in English for daily one-on-one discussions with the CEO.
