Senior Backend Developer – PHP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Create and enhance high-performance, scalable backend systems utilizing PHP and Symfony.

• Evaluate existing components and improve them regarding quality, performance, maintainability, and scalability.

• Design and implement robust RESTful APIs, documenting them according to the OpenAPI standard.

• Gradually modernize the system landscape while facilitating migrations from on-premises solutions to cloud-based architectures.

• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code, contributing to technical decision-making.

• Leverage generative AI tools for code generation, refactoring, test case creation, and documentation purposes.

• Perform code reviews and provide technical support to colleagues.

• Investigate bugs, performance, and stability issues, devising sustainable solutions.

• Create and optimize unit and integration tests.

• Collaborate with CI/CD pipelines and container technologies, and enhance deployment processes.

• Design solutions for event-driven architectures and utilize message brokers like RabbitMQ.

• Optimize MySQL databases for enhanced performance, maintainability, and scalability.

• Engage in technical discussions and work closely with developers and stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Completed degree or vocational training in computer science, business informatics, or a similar qualification.

• Several years of professional experience in developing and enhancing complex backend systems.

• Excellent knowledge of PHP 8.x and Symfony 7.x+.

• Strong expertise in developing RESTful APIs and working with OpenAPI.

• Solid experience with Clean Code principles, object-oriented software development, and common design patterns.

• Familiarity with unit and integration testing, particularly with PHPUnit and PHPStan.

• Experience with CI/CD and Docker; knowledge of Kubernetes is an advantage.

• Proficient in MySQL and/or PostgreSQL, especially in performance and database optimization.

• Experience with event-driven architecture and message brokers, ideally RabbitMQ.

• Familiarity with modern AI tools for software development and quality assurance, or a strong interest in effectively integrating them into the development process.

• Confident communication skills in both German and English.

• Independent, organized, and solution-focused work approach.
